Pier Stroll
The Municipal Pier at Aquatic Park is always a nice subject for a dramatic photo :).

Yeah, after doing a lot of telephoto work with the 100-300mm, I decided to use my 14mm wide angle for a few photo walks. :)

Beautiful sky clouds, nice framing and composition...:-)

I agree with Lena, nice framing and good use of B and W. So that is an equivalent 28mm FOV. I really like that focal length, wide but not too wide to distort the foreground.

Very nice, Steve! It's interesting how the shape of the buoy is almost duplicated by the rig in the background. I like how you can still see faint traces of color (blue and yellow) on the background.

Levi's Plaza After Sunset
It was getting cold and dark quickly once the sun went down. I had several compositions from this spot, and I decided to try a black & white of this scene.
I'm not sure how successful this one is? What do you think?

I would like it in colors " Sunset ", if B/W seemed not it's feeling...

Maybe I should just change the title to "Levi's Plaza" :)

Love the water.... bringing silhouette, transparency, and tranquility to the surface. And the tall building and bare trees shooting up like fireworks, as the smoke-like clouds disperse...

I dont understand all the terminology yet or how to describe what I am beginning to see. But this seams to have a very deliberate angle and sharp structure that a week ago I dont think I would have appreciated. Now I dont want to stop looking at it. Very Cool.I love this feeling of pure enjoyment. I never know what will present itself in the next photo I look at. I feel like I was given new eyes and a heart tune up.

One of My Recurring Subjects at Stow Lake
It was a beautiful, warm day today, and I was compelled to take a walk around Stow Lake with the D200 and 35mm f2 Nikkor lens. I don't have a camera strap for it yet, so I carried it sans strap. It is a solid piece of gear, which is just slightly smaller, in size than the D100, but much more solid and dense. This is because of the D200's magnesium chassis and metal body. It has a much more rugged feel than the D100, and it feels more like a relative of my F-series Nikon bodies.

WOW....you don't see flat water on a somewhat clear night in the Bay Area. Nice use of the lights against the dark water.

Nice hydrant impression, it's kind of a mushroom shape too. The smell of real trees for the holidays ..mmm!

Looks to me like the little hydrant was hiding from getting a cleaning job....."if that maintenance man doesn't see me maybe he won't give me a bath and then paint me"

I don't know folks, something about the way the D100's images 'look' that continues to impress me every time I go back to using it. What do you think?
--Warren - tedm said...

Hi Warren,
I definitely see it, but feel that over the years I've over-commented on it.
I dont know if it's the CCD, larger pixel pitch, or what, but to me these are your best images, quality wise. - Warren T. said...

Thanks Ted, I remember your opinions about this, and I appreciate them.

Warren,
Like Ted, I think your best work is on the D100. I think you grew over the years with the D100, it is like a best friend. You may have new toys, but you know how to get the most out of the D100...you don't have to think technically....you can just compose. You and the camera become one to create the images.
This is a wonderful picture.

I can feel the warm sun, the cool breeze from the Pacific, and the anticipation of fireworks in the fog.......the things we miss.
A very nice communication of the feeling in the Bay Area.
Thanks,
