With the visibility changing every second, I took so many pictures while here at Windy Hill. When I arrived to the top of the hill, the entire bay was filled with cloud and couldn't see anything except the gravel and grass I was standing on.

In honor today's unexpected rain in San Francisco, here's a picture that I took last June on the train somewhere between Paris and Cologne, Germany.

It was raining very hard that day, and it made for an interesting blurry motion picture on the outside of the train.

Morning: Tiburon to Angel Island

Month is half over, eeeeep! I need to get some fog. AAH. Maybe this weekend ;D

For now, I am putting up a couple more recently taken (pre-September) foggy/misty shots. These were taken on the ferry ride from Tiburon to Angel Island.

FOG? OR HUMIDITY? FLORIDA IS THE ANSWER

Well I wish I could find the email I was trying to read on my phone in between coffee refills. I know the September project was FOG and I thought i read something about not cropping the photo. But I cant seem to find it.

So here is my hopefully not last attempt at Florida Fog.


I saw this split in the sunset between the patches of rain clouds and beautiful, relentless, Florida Sun. Seems my lens sitting in supercharged office AC all day had a hard time clearing up as I started to focus.

Since my first Fog shot was happening with or without my will it seams it was destined to land here.

I really liked the lightness of the man's shirt and hair colour, and directional cue from the woman's hand as they watch the fog roll in. His pants help "disguise" him into the rocks too.

It kind of uses the "a little bit of something in a lot of nothing" notion from Steve's post Red Buoy In Fog. There is the fog.. out there.. :)

One kind of image I’ve always been partial to is “a little bit of something in a lot of nothing.” This one is an example of a corollary, “a little bit of color in a lot of non-color.”

You can practice looking for situations like this and thy it out with your own photos… a little bit of something in a lot of nothing… a little bit of color in a lot of no color…. a little bit of one color in a lot of another color.

To paraphrase George Zimmer, you’re going to like the way it looks; I guarantee it.

Full disclosure: I took this photo back in January - there isn't a lot of fog in our area this time of the year. 

"Bad Weather Makes Good Pictures"

Following the advice that his father gave to the young Sam Abell that “bad weather makes good pictures,”  we didn’t let the fog get us down.

This is another photo I took on that day back in January. The location is Fells Point in Baltimore, with the old Domino Sugar factory across the outer harbor. Fells Point, once a down-and-out area, has had a revival over the past 20 years and become rather hip.
