Anyone interested in forced perspective? Like the leaning tower of pisa classic tourist pictures... Only we can try the ideas out wherever we are and don't have to be in Italy. Although.. it would work very nicely there too. Here's a link to some great examples: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/force-perspective-photos/

Crabs!

Lumix G5, Lumix 100-300mm

A crabby series! :)

We were in Sausalito last month walking on Bridgeway, the street right next to the water. The sun was just coming out when we saw these little crabs sneaking up out of the water to get some sun for themselves. They were small, only around 3 to 5 inches across and they were shy. If you get too close, they go back into hiding.

Birds in Motion - Sunday at the Atlantic Pier

It started out as a sad day for photography when I realized that there were no clouds in the sky, it was colder than anticipated and everything was flat, even the color. Then I snapped out of it and realized I was in paradise and it is impossible to not always have subjects to shoot. So with my 11-17 Tokina lens I crawled on my belly through the sand to get close enough to the Flock of mystery sea gulls in order to capture the first shot. After that I found even the pigeons were wonderful models. Turned out to be a fantastic day for learning and getting some of my favorite bird photos.

Red and Yellow

I added some blur to the top and bottom to lessen the impact of all this glass. The two colours, red and yellow, seem to help focus away from it all too. Or maybe it's the other way.. The glass and reflections help frame these two unreflective coloured cubes.

Winter in Central Park

Snowed a foot in NYC during a recent visit, and Central Park was incredible. Leica M, 50 Noctilux
As an aside, the first image has moiré distortion in the left fence, which is something that digital cameras without antialiasing filters suffer from, but it did not appear until I converted the image to a JPEG for posting.  Enough with the nerd talk.

Nice, Dan... brings back good memories of when I lived a few blocks away from the Park many years ago.

I especially like the last photo, the one of the classic Central Park streetlamp with the city background :-)

Dan,
Great capture of the park. I like the second picture with the person walking. I think you framed it really nice and captured the mood. The last two are also very nice with the details.

Flight of a snowflake. I love the middle two pictures. The monochrome quality and the composition.
