Stow Lake Moment

Lumix G5, Nikkor-H 50mm f2.0

I love the image "signature" of this lens, especially for B&W images.

Has anyone else paid attention to your lens signature? :)

Dan, for some reason, when you create a post on Blogger, I don't get a notification email. So I didn't know about your last few posts until I came onto the blog to upload my post.

Sorry for the delay, but I will comment on your excellent images very soon.

I forgot to mention that this lens, the Nikkor-H 50mm is from the 1960s. It was first introduced by Nikon in 1963. I got my copy of this lens for free (!) a couple of years ago. I couldn't believe my luck. The filter ring has a huge dent in it, but the glass is in excellent condition and everything else functions well. For this picture, I used it adapted to my Lunix G5.

Lea, I found an interesting article that talks about lens quality wherein it mentions 'lens signature'.

Thanks for the comment.

I took two shots of this scene. On the first shot, she was stuffing her mouth with a sandwich. It was not a very attractive pose, so I decided to show this one instead :).

Terrific testament to testudinal tenderness!

Wow, I really like it rendered in B&W - I'm surprised at myself, as I usually think of nature photos of being in color.

Sunlit Wavelets

Lumix G5, Lumix 100-300mm

The ducks and birds were peacefully enjoying the late afternoon sun, one day at Stow Lake. I was attracted by the reflections and the light patterns on the waves, and I thought that the scene would make a nice black and white image.

It is a wonderful black and white picture. I like that one of the drops of mist is in the middle of the birds reflected eye. I hope you won't tell me you did that on purpose.

Amazing capture of depth of field and stop action on the bird in flight. You really captured the moment of an older woman enjoying the peace of feeding the animals around a little pond.

Last Boat In

D200, Nikkor 35mm f2.0

It was a late Sunday afternoon on a beautiful day, and I overheard someone say that this boat was the last one left on the lake, and the boat house workers were waiting for this family to finish their leisurely ride around the lake so that can all go home.

One of My Recurring Subjects at Stow Lake

D200, Nikkor 35mm f2.0 ai

It was a beautiful, warm day today, and I was compelled to take a walk around Stow Lake with the D200 and 35mm f2 Nikkor lens. I don't have a camera strap for it yet, so I carried it sans strap. It is a solid piece of gear, which is just slightly smaller, in size than the D100, but much more solid and dense. This is because of the D200's magnesium chassis and metal body. It has a much more rugged feel than the D100, and it feels more like a relative of my F-series Nikon bodies.

Canada Goose

Panasonic DMC-G1, Lumix 45-200mm

I went to Stow Lake yesterday to see the Great Blue Herons at Stow Lake. There were only a few there, on a far off tree, and the light was not very good.

I sat on a bench to watch them for a while, when some Canada geese came around hoping for some food.

A Fall Day at Stow Lake

Konica FS-1, 40mm f1.8 Hexanon, Kodak BW400CN

The Hexanon lenses are really amazing.

I think BW400CN scans better than XP2. Anyone else notice this? (I know, only a couple of you still shoot film, so I don't expect too many answers to this question :) )

Warren, this is a great shot.

There seems to be a purplish cast on trees, but it could be my monitor or something. Are you using filters? Does anyone else see this cast? or is it just me?
