On this day, I noticed the nicely shaded layers in the Marin Headlands, and I tried to incorporate that into a composition with the bridge.

I'm trying different compositions, which one do you prefer? And also please tell us why.

Coyote Creek Reflections

After using a pair of tiny compact cameras for 2 months, it was a great pleasure to pick up my D200 again. The ergonomics of the camera were instantly familiar the moment I picked it up, and the resulting image quality of the larger sensor and good optics made the image very easy to work with.

It was a gray day, but it was a nice, calm landscape here with the still water making for very nice reflections.

Stranger Becomes Friend

Here's is Keshav, a very nice guy who I met the other day because he bought one of my lenses, the Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar Classic. We arranged to meet at a local coffee shop (picture #1) to do the deal. I really took a liking to him, so I invited him to lunch where we ordered one of his favorite dishes, Szechuan Shrimp (picture #2). After lunch, I invited him over to our house where I gave him my Fed 3b w/ 50mm Industar 61 (picture #3). I was planning to give away the Fed anyway, and I couldn't think of a more deserving photographer. Keshav is currently in the Bay Area for a summer internship, and he will be returning to Duke University in the Fall to finish his Business Degree. I also asked Keshav to join our blog. You'll be seeing more from Keshav soon. This series is interesting because each picture was taken with a different camera (Lumix G5 w/Lumix 20mm f1.7, HTC One X cell phone, and finally, Nikon D200 w/24mm f2.8 AF)

Keshav  is relatively new to photography, but very enthusiastic. He primarily shoots the street genre.

Abbey at Ocean Beach -- Strangers Project

This is my first contribution to our Strangers Project. Meet Abbey from Washington D.C. She moved to San Francisco about 6 months ago, and works at Stanford (Palo Alto). She was enjoying a book while stretched out on the seawall at Ocean Beach. It was near sunset and the light was nice and warm, I liked her orange outfit which was a nice contrast to the rather neutral tones at the beach, so I introduced myself ask her if I could take her picture. She graciously agreed, and this is the result. I only took these two shots, but they both turned out well, IMO. :)

As Lea alluded to, this month's project is severely difficult, but on the other hand, it is also extremely interesting to see what everyone comes up with.

All great stuff so far, I might add. :)

In this one, the shadow lines appear to follow the odd shape of this dockside line anchor (I don't know the proper name for these things).

Looking south from the Marin Headlands, you can see (through the haze and fog) from foreground to background: Lincoln Park/Legion of Honor, the Richmond District, Golden Gate Park, Sunset District, Daly City, and Pacifica (Mori Point).
