Looking south from the Marin Headlands, you can see (through the haze and fog) from foreground to background: Lincoln Park/Legion of Honor, the Richmond District, Golden Gate Park, Sunset District, Daly City, and Pacifica (Mori Point).

Marin in foreground, San Francisco in the background, this is not my usual style (or is it?), but I had an idea to try this when I was standing there looking for a shot :).

I would appreciate your comments on this one. Does it do anything for you?

I was sitting on a bench taking a break from shooting the fog pictures when I noticed them standing in front of me. The little girl was not interested in the view and more interested in looking at me.

The view changed by the minute. Here the fog parted briefly to reveal part of the headlands and a little more of the bridge's north tower.

We happened to be up in the Marin Headlands yesterday near the same place as Dan's recent post. The blanket of fog was very interesting.

A Spotted Towhee

This guy was seen in Marin, and I had fun researching his name because I don't remember seeing one before.

It's a handsome bird with vivid, orange/red eyes, and a jet black colored head.

Lea, was this bird in that Audubon book that you saw at the library? :)

Twilight View of San Francisco from the Marin Headlands

This is historic, my first stitched panorama shot!

This is a 7 shot stitched panorama. The shots were handheld. I used my EVF's grid line display to aid with positioning the horizon in each of the 7 shots. In post-processing, I am trying out a program called Autostitch. It was ridiculously easy to create the resulting image. Blogger has a 1600 pixel width limit on images, so unfortunately you won't be able to see all the details.

I also tried a 6 shot series in portrait mode that worked well, but this series was a more dramatic example.

Standing Watch

This raven was guarding one of the coastal defense bunkers at the Marin Headlands. It reminded me of the ones at the Tower of London.

Cloudscape at Rodeo Beach

There were dramatic clouds last Friday too. I shot this while standing on the bridge that goes over Rodeo Lagoon to Rodeo Beach from Ft. Cronkite. You can see some folks picnicking on the beach on the other side of the dune.

It would be a nice setting for a house, but the building is actually the Marin Headlands Visitor Center at Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands. The water in the foreground is Rodeo Lagoon at Fort Cronkite.
