Warren,

Where did you take this from? I can't recall this angle with land and the bridge.

Wonderful photo and from an angle you don't see.

Dolph, this is on the beach, next to the inlet to the Crissy Field Lagoon. Sometimes at high tide, the water spills onto the beach and causes a mini-lagoon on the beach.

Reflection on a Pond at Lake Tahoe

Panasonic DMC-G1, Lumix 20mm f1.7

I don't really like the rounded corners on the border, but it was a way for me to get the thin borders that I wanted using only Lightroom (the After Crop Vignette tool).

Oooo I like it very much! Parting the water with light alone. You can feel the movement of water underneath the surface... Really great shot!

This tells the story of the america auto industry.......when cars were big and powerful, and really over the top... I can hear the low rumble of the engine, the air flowing through the cabin with the windows down, and sweet smell of spring time.

I agree with Steve, nice composition.

I noticed that the first picture that I posed was a little too dark, so I brightened it a bit, made the image larger, and uploaded the new version.

Shrub and Reflection

Lumix DMC-GF1, Lumix 45-200mm

Dolph's reflection picture reminded me of this one that I took last month at Redwood Shores. I liked the symmetry of the shrubs with their reflections in the tidal marsh.

Beautiful minimalist image!!!

Have you tried B&W? It looks great in color, but it may also suit B&W.

On the B&W thing, try creating a B&W layer and apply a blue filter - it will turn the water to very light (but it still preserves, in fact, emphasizes, the little bit of texture in the water) and the shrub goes dark. I tried it on a screen capture of your image, and I thought it really worked well :-)

Thanks Steve! :)

I did try it in B&W, twice, in-fact. But in the end, I decided that I liked the blue sky reflection on the water to remind myself of what the scene actually looked like that day.

If you want, you can post your B&W version of my picture.

My mind is attempting to see a horizon. The combination of straight lines from the reeds and the round shape of the shrub with a good angle between the two shapes draws me to look at the image and think of what caused this.

Thanks for sharing the photo.

Hi Dolph, interesting photo. I think it would be great as two photos, split in the middle.

Maybe 2 square photos, framed horizontally.

But that's just me.

Yes a new toy... I'm still getting to know it, but I like the quality and easy of use. Changes are on the camera versus having to go to menus on the D200 and the quality is better vs the D70. Low light noise is much better at higher ISO compared to both the other cameras. I really struggled between the D700 and the D7000, but everyone indication for my type of shooting was to get the 7000.

Thanks for the comments.

Warren, this is a great shot.

There seems to be a purplish cast on trees, but it could be my monitor or something. Are you using filters? Does anyone else see this cast? or is it just me?

Vase of Flowers and Reflection

Leica M3, Leitz 50mm f2.8

All three of us saw this (Dan, Dolph, and I), and of course all three of us took pictures of it. As you saw in Dan's previous post, he included more of the reflections. I saw the lines surrounding the subject, so I composed for the lines and angles around it, while still showing the reflection of the vase. I would love to see Dolph's take also...

Paging Dolph, please post... (no pressure :))

Thanks for the comments :). I sometimes take the SD300 out with me when I'm out on a break or a coffee run on work days. I wear the tiny nylon LowePro holster on my belt, and it's barely noticeable.

BTW, Blogger.com's comment notification is broken, so you'll need to check on the blog itself to look for new comments.

Also, the search feature is still broken. It's been broken for a while, and I don't think Google has an ETA on when it will be fixed (if ever). Meanwhile, if you really need to find something, I think you can still use the search feature in the "edit posts" mode on blogger.
