That is amazing!!

My appreciation for this photo is magnified by my recent addition of a simple color wheel at my desk.

Its really interesting because up until about a month ago I really didn't understand why my eyes were drawn to certain color patterns. I mean you read about what someone els's perspective is. But until the lightbulb goes on, you never realize you were standing in the dark.

I think maybe all the art classes I took when I was growing up are finally starting to make sense.

Great capture Warren!

Summer has been one of the best roller coaster rides I could dream of taking..... I think fall is gonna be even better.

Hope everyone is doing great!!

Vintage Scene

Lumix LF1

This was shot in Carmel during the Motorsport Reunion Week. It was in the early evening, and I had a really nolstalgic feeling when looking at this vintage Porsche 550. When I took the picture, I had a B&W image in mind.

Too bad the car had a a web site address graphic on it, which kind of ruined the illusion. :)

Gail at the New Devil's Slide Trail

Lumix LF1

We checked out the new Devil's Slide Trail the other day, and I took the opportunity to try out the automatic panorama mode of my Lumix LF1. It was crazy easy to make a panoramic image using this camera. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind for this month's project, but Lea reminded me that a picture like this would qualify to be included in this month's project. :)

Around the world around the coast. I love the roundedness from this panoramic. Picturing the zooming vehicles riding out there enjoying the breeze and sound of the waves crashing in. Great place to stop. Nice portrait!

Thanks Lea. This section of Highway 1, known as Devil's Slide, was bypassed by a new tunnel, so the roadway has been re-assigned as a pedestrian and bicycle only trail. It's 1.3 miles long from end to end, with great views of the interesting coastline, and striated rock formations.

Florida Squirrel

Lumix LF1

Hi Everyone,

We had a change of plans, and we're back home!

We had a nice, relaxing week in Florida, staying with Dolph and Peggy. Gail and I went for a walk around Dolph's house one day, where I spotted this guy on a tree.

We also had a chance to meet Carl D. over lunch one day. It was nice to finally meet each other in person.

Arch on a Distant Planet

Lumix LF1

Has anyone ever visited Arches National park?

This reminds me of the arches there, except that this arch is man made yet Mother Nature still moves to sculpt this "arch" like she does to the natural arches.

White Crowned Sparrow

Lumix LF1

This was taken today at Fort Myers, Land's End.

Still testing the LF1 under different conditions. The battery is rated at 250 shots, and I think the rating is totally bogus. I'll be lucky to get 100 shots on the first charge. I'll be buying an aftermarket kit that includes an external wall charger and two spare batteries. The LF1 does not come with a separate charge unit, the battery is charged in-camera.

Watch Dial Macro - LF1

Lumix LF1

I tested two things here, 1) RAW shot, and 2) Macro mode.

Since I have not yet upgraded to LR5, I had to use a convoluted route to process this RAW shot, but it worked out okay. It would have turned out better using LR. This was edited in Fotor (a Windows 8.1 Metro App) that has limited editing capabilities.

This is slightly cropped shot of the dial of my Citizen Skyhawk AT watch. Focus is obviously on the UTC subdial, the edges are a bit swirly.

In the future, RAW is still the way to go with these small-sensor cameras. I'm undecided on which way I'll go with RAW vs. Jpg on my upcoming trip.
