Award Winning Form

Lumix GF1, Lumix 14-45mm

I met up with Dan to shoot the pre-parade scene at Carnaval. BTW, I also ran into Lena there, so there were at least 3 of us shooting yesterday. :)

I look forward to seeing our different visions of the same event. I think this is what makes participating in a group like this especially fun and interesting.

Practicing Photographer

Lumix LX5 @ 24mm

This is "Kirk". He was practicing in the field with his newly acquired Canon 100-400mm zoom. He will be going to Tanzania on a photo safari, as well as climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. He showed me a picture on his iPhone that he took of a tiger in India, and he told me a great story of how he got that picture.  I took the opportunity to do a combination project picture :).

Very nice environmental portrait. I like the way you composed it with the curve of the road in the background.

LOL! Good one, Dan. The photographer was going for a low angle shot, shooting up a the woman's face but it really looks like he is aiming for her shoes... :)

Happy New Year!

Lumix DMC-G5, Lumix 100-300mm

I saw this fellow photographer on a damp, evening trail the other day.

I hope everyone has a great year of photography.

Oy! Now I have lens envy (the big white lens is a giveaway that it's a big, expensive Canon "L" lens ;-)

Thanks Steve :)

This is in Pacifica, CA, about 20 minutes south of SF. I took this while standing in the same position as my "Restless Sea" picture.

Thanks Dan. I was standing at the entrance to the Pacifica fishing pier. The pier was closed that day because of the high surf.

I like how you captured the water. The speed of the shot is interesting because you have some movement in the waves, but not every little water drop.

I am really intested in what the people are looking at and the guy in the red shirt...

Photographer at De Young Museum

Canon SD300

The museum has a very unique metal "skin", and this photographer found it interesting (I'm guessing).

Photography Couple

Nikon D100, Nikkor 300mm f4.5

I went to Poplar Beach in search of raptors again, but I found other photographers instead. And they weren't stalking birds, they were setting up a shot of their little daughter with the ocean behind her.

Photographer at Land's End Trail

Nikon D100, Nikkor 50mm f1.8D

This photographer was intent on shooting the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset time, but as I walked by, I noticed the golden streak of sunset light underneath him.
