This poor car seems to belong here.
It has been a great month for project posts! Keep it up! It's fun to see everybody's interpretation of the project idea.
Any ideas for our March project?

Nice! Not about the misery of course.. the clever interpretation. Null case, check. At least it's not winter. (that happened to my mom's car in winter, in Manitoba. it was not fun.)

Great capture of a theme. Only thing to make this better would be the car having two tone paint.

Coffee on Third Street
It was a rainy day yesterday, which is a good day to have a coffee, check out FPCF, and watch the world go by outside the window. :)

Yay, thanks for taking us all out for coffee Warren! ;)
Anyone interested in forced perspective? Like the leaning tower of pisa classic tourist pictures... Only we can try the ideas out wherever we are and don't have to be in Italy. Although.. it would work very nicely there too. Here's a link to some great examples: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/force-perspective-photos/ - Dolph Brust said...

I'm up for forced perspectives. I took some of them while we were in Europe a couple of years ago.
I think it's great that the photo shop is directly across the street. - Warren T. said...

Lea, those are great examples! It's a fun and creative thing to try. I'm up for it.

Any ground rules? Like only single images? Lea's call since it is her idea.
Dan - Lea said...

When you say single images, do you mean one per post, or non-composite?

Composite vs non

My personal preference is for non-composite. It should be an exercise in "seeing" vs. post-processing, in my opinion.

Glass in the Window

Cactus Looking At Art
On Valentines Day we went to the Bonnet House in Fort Lauderdale, a summer home for a famous painter during the 1930s. I found this little cactus holding open the shutter to get a look at some of the pictures.

Very good Dan! The backlighting and the strong shadows really work here.
This is the Arcade at Bethesda Terrace. The Terrace is the monumental heart of the Park, and it's my favorite location there.
It's rare to be there on a weekend and not see at least one wedding party getting photographed. Many come all the way from Japan and Korea! I'm delighted that you were there. Any more NYC photos? - Warren T. said...

Great rim/backlighting on the bride, and nice strong shadows. I can see how this would be a favorite place for wedding photographers to take dramatic wedding portraits.

Thanx Steve and Warren. The location was also a great spot for street musicians. Fantastic tile work and architecture.
I am still going through the images and hopefully find some more keepers. Took quite a few in the many museums, especially the NYMOMA, and Morgan Library. - Dolph Brust said...

Sunlit Wavelets
The ducks and birds were peacefully enjoying the late afternoon sun, one day at Stow Lake. I was attracted by the reflections and the light patterns on the waves, and I thought that the scene would make a nice black and white image.

Richardson Bay
It was an absolutely gorgeous day last Sunday for a bike ride (and for anything else for that matter). I rode from my house to as far as Mill Valley and back, a 28 mile round trip. I had to stop to take a picture here. This was taken at Richardson Bay, just north of Sausalito. You can see the houseboats in the distance.

Lena,
Nature always amazes me. All the colors, lines, textures she gives us. It has to be satisfying to have taken the time to capture these pictures, and you didn't become frozen. That takes dedication.
I really like the first picture with the contrast of the teepee and colors in the sky.

Hi Carl,
All my setting I wrote to answer Dan questions, 'A' aperture priority auto adjust by itself, and I check the second photo is F3.5, Exposure time 10 sec, ISO 800, focus length 18mm, max aperture 3.6, no flash.

Thanks Dan. you can go to search Google at youtube watch how to take amazing photo in Northern Light with you camera.I was following him teaching to set it up before I shot...;-)

Hi Dan,
I was followed him teaching to set it up first, M30second, F3.5, ISO800, but "M" was hard to focus point in the dark at night, so I changed to 'A' aperture priority auto. Tripod is necessity and used the release to press.
That,s my handle in the cold shot at Northern Light...:-)

By the other of dresses suggestion, in the weather was extreme cold ( 0-/44 degrees ) I am wearing 4 layers warm pants and clothes and face mask and scarf, and brought chemical heating pads put in the shoes, but still did not work for the cold weather... I Think it work well is I inspire the scene and I like the cold weather, at that moment I was fallen in the fantastic nature..and devoted photography, otherwise I can not passed by the weather, I totally fell in...i am proud myself have been challenged it...

Winter in Central Park
As an aside, the first image has moiré distortion in the left fence, which is something that digital cameras without antialiasing filters suffer from, but it did not appear until I converted the image to a JPEG for posting. Enough with the nerd talk.
