An elderly woman was walking along the beach feeding the gulls. This place is just north of Shelter Cove, Pismo Beach.

A Simple Bird Picture

I think Dolph posted one like this a while back. This must have been what Simon was feeling like on his tour of the Bay in the Cessna. :)

I was out with my D100 this afternoon at Crissy Field, and took this quick snap of a gull flying overhead. I don't think it would have been possible to focus as quickly with my Micro 4/3 cameras. It was a no-thinking quick, follow and snap of the shutter, letting the D100's AF do its thing.

This was taken at Pacifica Pier today. There happened to be a person there who was cutting up some fish on the pier and feeding it to the gulls. They were all hovering and flying around hoping to get a piece of the action.

An opportunity like this doesn't happen very often, and it was all over in about 10 minutes. I have some other interesting shots that I might post later.

I like this picture in particular because it shows the grace and beauty of a bird in flight.

Note the lens that I was using... my recently acquired, 20+ years old, vintage, manual focus lens.

I-95 Wildlife

An aggressive seagull gives me the stink-eye and a squawk to warn me to stay away from the bit of bagel that I dropped for him. Some gratitude.

To take a photo like this, you have to get down... literally get down, as in lie down on your stomach. To the delight of some and the puzzlement of others who were going in and out of the Cheasapeake House rest stop on I-95.
