Fun Selfie

Lumix G5, Lumix 20mm f1.7

Part of the fun of playing on Facebook is to update profile pictures on a regular basis. The other day, I picked up my Lumix G5 w/20mm f1.7 combo for the first time in a couple of months, getting ready to take it out for a photo shoot.

I got this idea to take a picture in a picture using the swivel LCD screen on the G5, and my bathroom mirror.

I flipped the image horizontally so that what you see is not reversed in the mirror, and then converted it to black and white in Lightroom.

I'm going to post this as my latest profile picture on FB, and I thought I'd post it here as well.

In fact, I often cross-post my pictures to here, and elsewhere, but the difference is here, we can discuss our pictures in a photography related context.

Photographer's Eyes

Voigtlander Bessa R, Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 Skopar

I ran a test roll through this camera because I will be selling it soon. Here's a typical "in the mirror" self portrait.

OMG, you are selling something from your collection. Good luck Warren. I can't say I blame you. My film work is few and far between now. Nice self portrait btw.

Self Portrait at Brunch

Lumix DMC-GF1, Lumix 20mm f1.7

We went to Nopa Restaurant for brunch a couple of weeks ago. I took advantage of this interesting mirror scene to take a mirror self-portrait.

Any ideas for the December Project?

Added later: I forgot to say: I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Day :). It was a cool, clear day here in SF. We went out for a walk in GG Park before the big Thanksgiving dinner. I'll post a couple of shots from the park, taken on Thanksgiving, and also the weekend before.

Moscone Center Self Portrait

Nikon D100, Nikkor 105mm f2.5

When Dan and I were out here for the RFF event, I had an idea for a picture using the windows of one of the buildings at Moscone Center (near the carousel). At the time, I was shooting with a 35mm lens, and it wasn't quite what I had in mind, so the next time that I was there, I got this shot.

Warren, I like the colors of the various handrails and their affect on the overall compostion. Too bad the blue rail ended up so close to your head, it is a little distracting.

very cool, I really like it!

The way you incorporated the railings, with the different colors and the Z-shape (there goes that Z-shape thing I have again!) is great.

I also like the way that the intervening glass make you partially ghostly ;-)

La Cirque et Moi

La Cirque et MoiLa Cirque est arriveé!

I didn't know Cirque du Soleil was coming to town, but as I was leaving Baltimore today, I saw the striped, conical tents and detoured to see what was going on.

Now I myself would never attend a performance of Cirque; the snippets I've seen on TV scare the crap out of me. It all looks very postmodern and Frenchified to me.

Kind of like Cats on steroids.

Non, merci.

This is a very cool shot. I like the framing and the color, and how you worked a subtle self portrait into the composition.
