California Coast

I caught this black and white of the coast up in the North Bay by Bodega Bay. It was so sunny out that day and the hike was wonderful. So much to see in the beautiful ocean air.

Very nice Eric! I like the shadow detail, the angle, and foreground sharpness.

So beautiful! I really love the assortment of rock sizes in this shot :D

The logical side of me wishes there was a few people in there so I can estimate how big the rocks are, hehe. Without a reference size, my mind flips between really big and really small.. kind of like when you see a Necker cube and your perception keeps changing even though you're looking at the exact same thing.

The different water surfaces are also really engaging. Far away from the rocks is so calm in comparison to the waves & ripples in between the rocks.

Great pic!

Thx Ted and Lea.

Ted, I used the curves tool in Photoshop to work on different parts of the photo. It helped out a lot more than just bringing up brightness or contrast in the photo as a whole. The tool allowed me to work on different parts.

Lea, I agree. People would have given it more scale. I didn't think of that. Thx. I will have to remember that the next time I try to get such a thought. Scale helps very much in interpreting a photo.
