View from Dead Horse Point, Utah

Here are a few from our trip through the Southwest that I have not had a chance to post until now. These were taken from Dead Horse Point State Park in Utah. This is a small park is adjacent to Canyonlands National Park.

The blue ponds are potash evaporation ponds:

I always curious who shot the shot for postcards. They are so real, they aren't real. I like the colors, lines, and composition.

Dead Horse Point... hmm... If there's one thing I learned for sure is that when the name of a place says something you should fear, you should maybe fear it. While at Cougar Mountain in Washington on Thanksgiving weekend, we ran into a cougar. Cougars at Cougar Mountain. Pretty simple concept. Holy crap. I have never been so adrenaline-rushed for so long in my life.

But I see there is much to be gained from daring to go see Dead Horse Point. These are beautiful shots. The blue potash evaporation ponds are really interesting to see. The reds and pale pinks/oranges in the layers of rock work very well to let the bright blue stand out in a beautiful way. And I love the mountainous peaks in the back!

Great pics Warren :D
