Back Yard Macro

D70
300mm and 20mm extension tube

Long live the D70 / a beginning photographer can never have enough equipment. I shot this in my back yard one afternoon. The flower was under some other plants. Using my D70 and playing with a 20mm extension tube this was my first attempt. I later realized that the flash had diluted some of the color.

In Florida you neven have to look far for a spider. This little guy was swaying in the wind and attempting to set up a web to catch the nightly dinner. I took several shots and the challenge was timing the wind long enough to get a focused shot.

Long live the D70!

well, I guess you're not going to sell your D70! Too bad, Curtis :).

Nice results for a first try. You got some great details on both pictures. I like the positioning of the strand of silk on the right side of the spider picture. It provides continuity across the picture and through the spider's legs.

Dolph (and everyone else), don't forget that you should convert your image to the SRGB colorspace in order for the colors to appear better on the web.

I did just a little bit of additional work on your flower shot and I was able to get the colors and contrast to look better. I'll email it to you.
