Colliding Circles
Hey gang - I posted this photo to my blog, but when I was taking it this morning, I was thinking, "hey, negative space here!"
So in light of our recent discussion on positive/negative space, etc, I thought I'd put this one up.
Also, this is the kind of image that I live for - although I recognize it's not everyone's cup of tea (as my wife told me 2 years ago when I proudly showed her a photo of a sewer grate I had taken.)
If any of you are Beatles fans - there's a funny story that goes along with "Colliding Circles" - there's a link on my blog in today's post.

In terms of positive/negative space, I would say that this picture is beautifully balanced in that respect. The black shadow patterns are great counterpoint and contrast to the vivid, colored patterns.
I really like this one, Steve. The "luminous" rust color is very bold and unusual, and once again, you captured a visually pleasing and graphically strong pattern from a mundane, and unlikely scene. I'll bet this one would look great, enlarged and hanging on a wall. In my opinion, it takes a very skilled and experienced "eye" to be able to do your preferred style of photography.
I noticed that you haven't been posting this style lately. I'm glad to see this one "pop up" here. :)

An interesting composition of forms, contours and colors. I find the scriblied numbers rather disturbing, though rubbing them off would not be quite the right thing to do...I suppose.
