Another sunset shot at Elkhorn Slough. the sun's reflection seemed to be pointing right at the shorebird.

The three rays of light perfectly focus our attention to the shore bird. Beautiful

Egret at Elkhorn Slough

Panasonic DMC-G1, Lumix 45-200mm

Wildlife silhouette art :)

An egret hunts at sunset, the golden light creates a great background for a profile shot of the bird.

I watched the bird's hunting technique with great interest. Have you ever seen this? It would stir up the silt with one of its claws to disturb the creatures that live in there. The egret sees it and snatches it quickly with its beak.

I love the lines in the water, they add a lot of interest in the shape of the bird's silhouette. Great timing and nice caption with it too. I've never noticed their feet scratching up the ground, I'll watch for that next time :)

This is fantastic.....I had to look at this for a long time to really understand the image. Did you try this in black and white?

Thanks!

Dolph, I did not try it in B&W, I wanted to keep the sunset glow.
