Denounce False Metal
I passed by this the other day on the way to work. The gray-painted surface is particle board in a window in place of glass.
Say, I'll be in Sacremento April 24-26. Sandy will be attending a workshop, so I'll be free most of the time. Any chance we can get together!?

Perhaps denounce false heavy metal music? Perhaps it was just a funky artistic piece.

Steve, we have to get together while you're in the area!!!
Sacramento is a 2 hour drive from San Francisco. We'll make arrangements later, maybe meet somewhere in between, like Napa/Sonoma area. We did this with some other friends recently when they were in Sacramento visiting their family.

It's a Yin Yang Thang
When on the Great Wall this past October (2008), I caught these 2 tourists taking photos. One in dark, one in white, one with a hat, one with no hat, one with a large camera, one with a small camera. You get the picture. It's a yin yang thang.

Fun shot! Nice yin-yang-ey effect :).
I often snap these kinds of fun, people/tourist shots. I was going to post one of a family that I saw in the Presidio, but I never got around to it. Maybe later...
These guys seem to be missing that great photo opportunity off in the distance (upper left background in this image).

Nice grab shot :).
I like the fact that they were both wearing dark coats, and the perspective, which is accentuated by the diagonal line from the store sign. Great "movement" in the image.

Stepping back into history with images and a write up like that is pretty neat! Our ideas of "a long time" sometimes means an hour, or a week... maybe even a year, depending on what we're talking about. But this photograph was taken a real LOOONG time ago. And I think it's so great that their grandchildren still keep it safe today almost a century later. Their picture will last so much longer than a lifetime (especially now with your digital version)! Cool post.

Lea, Steve, and Warren, thx for your comments on this photo of my grandparents. I see photos like this of different people and think, "Wow, they were once our age," and also think about how much more they had to deal with than we do now. Amazing stuff. Makes history very real and not just a dry course in high school or college.

Pilings in the Bay
During the 2008 Thanksgiving Day hike with Warren, I caught a shot of these pilings in SF Bay off of Fort Mason.
