If You're Going to San Francisco, Be Sure to Wear
some flowers in your hair.
I was out testing the new Nikon D40 and I wanted to check out the macro function. I took some photos of flowers down in Burlingame (south of SF), and I came out with more than I expected. The orange flowers (I have no idea of the name) came out brighter than I ever imagined. I didn't play with saturation in any of the software. The other flowers came out clearer than I thought they would. The macro function seems to work ok.

Nice photos, Eric! And I like the title, too.
I find flowers very hard to shoot, and you've done it very well here.
Being (as Sen. McCain often says) old as dirt, I remember this song by Scott McKenzie very well.
From my memories of 1968, this song was one of the very few good things about that year! ;-)
Thx, Steve. The more I look at the photo with the orange flowers, the more I think it needs to be toned down, tho. It looks like I messed with it making the colors more saturated. I guess it's how the software works.

Great color of the, I think, California Poppey. We use to have those flowers in a field near our house in Half Moon Bay. When the sun came out it was very bright, like your photo.
Thx Dolph. I thought the orange flower was a poppy but I wasn't sure.
I think the orange flowers are poppies, but not California Golden Poppies. And you're right, the first two shots are a bit oversaturated, but the color saturation on third picture looks about right. In that one, you can still see some details in the flower petals.
Nice macros.

Thx. Yeah, the poppies look over-saturated even tho I didn't touch the photo. Guess that's just how the camera works. If I use this photos for cards, I have to tone it down a little or people are going to go blind.
