Americas Cup Races
As a prelude to next year's Americas Cup, sailboat racing was on the bay this past week. I ventured out with a rental lens and tried my luck at capturing some of the action. Crowds exceeded 40,000 for the free event. Nikon d800e, Nikon AFS 300 f2.8, I also used a 1.7 TC on the first few in this series. Also, as you can see #2 is a crop from #3, I was impressed with the lens/TC capturing this level of detail at approximately 100 yards. Dan

Wow, really exciting shots. I can feel the chill and the adrenaline!! The tipping looks craaaaazy, aahhhh! I love the ones with them hanging out over the side and the mental focus of a fast-moving-frozen-hand man... A terrific sense of the event, very entertaining!
Great action shots, Dan. Too bad I couldn't join you that day (too busy at work).

Lena, I was right next to the St. Francis Yacht Club. There was a group of professional photographers right next to me. We would like to see the images you took that day.
