Perito Moreno Glacier, El Calafate, Argentina
Hi all, it's been a while. Genie and I took a trip to Argentina, and one of our stops was Parque Nacional Los Glaciares in El Calafate, Argentina. It is way down south near the end of the American continent in a region called Patagonia. Here is a black and white shot of the glacier. We saw it by boat and we went hiking on it. Absolutely amazing. I'll be posting some more shots of Argentina in the future, but I thought I'd start with this one. Hope it communicates some of the beauty that we saw.

Wow that's awesome!!!! How tall is that glacier above the water level??
Great pic too ---the glacier peaks are really interesting to see with the mountainous background :)
Thx Lea. And you are right. It is awesome. As for your question, I couldn't tell you. All I can say is that it's pretty big. I figured I'd be seeing a glacier up in this part of the world, like in Canada or Alaska, seeing as I live up this way. Nope. Saw it on the other side of the world first. If you like nature, you'd love Patagonia. I'll be posting some other pictures in the near future of the region. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Amazing scenery and nice composition!
I like the dramatic contrast between the white glacial ice and the mountains and clouds in the background. The gradations in tone are nicely balanced, leading the eye in a clockwise direction from the bright white to the stark black.

Thx, Warren. I like this photo. I think that perhaps the black is a little too black however. I may play around with this photo some more.

Good ol' Canada and its glaciated north! I've never seen a glacier here either to be honest.... our winters are enough cold as I really need! heehee
Actually, I may be moving away from this vast beaut of a country soon. My boyfriend was offered a job in Seattle Washington recently and he would really love to take it. But he doesn't want to go unless I can work there too....
So we're currently looking for a job for me around there... If you guys have any suggestions I'd be SO HAPPY TO HEAR THEM!!! =D
Wow Lea! That's a big move! What kind of work do you do?
Eric
Lea,
TedM lives in Washington, maybe he has some suggestions. Have you tried looking in Craigslist.org? I wish you all the best in your new life in the U.S.

Yeah, it will be a big move if we can get things lined up ;) Nothing's for sure yet..
I'm looking @Craigslist to see what's there. I was talking to Ted about that and he sent me some places to get started on my job search! I'm in the financial industry right now as a lender with Wells Fargo, which I am aware is an American bank... but apparently transfers across the border are very hard to get so I will have to apply as a new hire. But perhaps something will come of that :)
