Posted for Patrick! -- Somewhere in China

I challenge each and every member of FPCF to make three guesses as to “where” in China the photo was taken and that nobody will come up with the right answer. Well…I know…it looks like anywhere and everywhere in China…OK…I took it on a business trip. Anyone?

Pat, this is a lovely scene. I like the way you showed the gentle curve of the canal, the reflections of the trees, and how you included the two people sitting on the bench. The color seems a bit muted, maybe affected by the scanning? On the right side of the picture, I would have either cropped a bit more to exclude the bit of shore in the lower right, or maybe tried to show the whole right bank of the canal.

Okay, my guess of location: Suzhou? I am only able to make one guess since Suzhou is the only place I happen to know that has canals.

OK gang, the place's name doesn't start with Z...or X...(unlike so many places in China)and it is surely known to all of you by hearing or reading. In fact, some of you might even have been there.
Anyone?

We have a winner---Steve Fong. The place is SHANGHAI,the financial and fashion capital of China.Well done,Steve. The picture was taken near the outskirts of the city,of course. Interesting isn't it, that a rather rural scene like this was found in such a modern city. But then,China is like that...so full of photo-taking opportunities and in a vast variety too. May be one day FPCF will organise a photo expedition to China, starting with say,Shanghai.

p.s. I see that Steve's comments are not available on the forum.May I trouble Warren to rectify this.Tks.

Actually, it was Dennis Fong!

Dennis just surfaced after a long period of silence!

Here's the comment:

Well...not starting with Z or X, some of us have been there, or at least heard of it, and on a business trip. Trees look of colder weather, not the types in southern China/Guangzhoou. Perhaps up north somewhere "common" like Shanghai, or Beijing? or perhaps in Hangzhou, but not near the WestLake?

BTW, Pat, you're right, one normally does not associate this kind of scene with a big, metropolitan city like Shanghai.

Dennis, I DO beg your pardon. The excuse was...well...after such a long silence of yours, one tends to get the alphabets mixed up a bit...blarr blarr. Thanks again for your participation. Well done.
Now, about the expedition...
