Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival

In September, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival is held in Golden Gate Park, for free.  This is one of the largest in the country and the sponsors bring in all music genres.  Some of the color from this year's event.  Nikon d800e, 70mm -200 f2.8 & Leica M240 - 50mm Summicron

Awesome Colors and skin tones in the shadows.

I am sure this was a very interesting event to be at.

First shot of a dog in a tree I have ever seen.

Great series Dan! What a wild scene. Some of the images could have been from the 60's :).

"Hardly Strictly.." -that is great. I love the tie dye portrait. What a perfect backdrop for him. Psychedelic camouflage. And I also really like the details/patterns you found in the spike bracelet shot. The series gives a great sense of being there.

Aw Weiwei on Alcatraz

If anybody is out there, I know Carl has been posting, but I have been lazy.  Few weeks back visited the Ai Weiwei exhibit out on Alcatraz.  Leica M240, 50mm Noctilux.

Love the photos Dan,

Ai Weiwei, this is the same guy that built the birds nest in China?

if its the same guy I watched an amazing documentary on him a while back.

The shot of the window is through another window correct?

The shot of the boy leaning up against the pillar I am liking the more I look at it. Where I was thinking he was intently looking at one of the paintings until i blew it up. His facial expression hints at a back story we will never know. Seems to be hiding from the rest of the group or kids. ----- actually what am I talking about. you were there. you may know why. Great shot, lots of depth.

FYI that last shot of the table gave me chills up my spine thinking of all the people that have been strapped to it.

Thanks for sharing!

thanx for the kind comments Carl. yes the shot was through another window. I think the boy was just bored, but maybe not. Yes, this is the famous Ai Weiwei, currently under arrest in China, so he was not able to directly supervise this installation and did it via video.

There was also an exhibition at UBC in Vancouver that just ended in November. It was photographs I believe. Regrettably, I did not make it there in time.

The walls and layering of bars and broken glass makes a strong statement. Especially seeing that vivid kite above.. trapped inside. The boy is dressed for the part, is he not? In orange. He looks greatly affected.
